Brickwork picks up more dirt than you think
Brick is tough, but it's porous. Over the years it absorbs traffic film, algae, moss, bird mess and general grime, and on north-facing or shaded walls that growth never really dries out. What started as a smart red or buff wall slowly turns dull, green or black-streaked, and it drags down the look of the whole property.
How we clean brick safely
The method is matched to the brick and the mortar. Most modern brickwork cleans up well with our rotary disc cleaner at governed low pressure, using hot water from the on-board heat box to lift grime without stripping the face of the brick. Older or softer brickwork, and walls with weathered mortar, get a gentler approach: a scrape and soft wash with a biocide treatment that kills off algae and moss spores rather than blasting at them.
High gables, chimneys and upper storeys are no problem, we have our own cherry picker with MEWP-qualified operators, so there's no scaffolding cost and no balancing on ladders against your brickwork.
What brick cleaning covers
House walls and gable ends, garden walls, brick pillars and entrance piers, commercial units and industrial brickwork. We also deal with specific problems: white salt staining (efflorescence), green algae on shaded walls, black carbon staining near roads, and mortar smear left behind after building work. Where paint or graffiti needs removing, we assess it as part of the quote.
Why pressure control matters on brick
Too much pressure on brick is worse than not cleaning it at all. It can blow the face off softer bricks, force water into the wall and chew out mortar joints, which then need repointing. Our equipment is governed so the pressure stays at a level the brickwork can take, and the angled rotary head cleans evenly rather than leaving stripe marks across the wall.
Homes and commercial buildings
We clean brickwork on homes across Ingleby Barwick, Stockton-on-Tees, Middlesbrough, Yarm and the wider Teesside area, and on commercial premises, from shopfronts and offices to industrial units. Brick cleaning often sits naturally alongside roof cleaning or gutter, fascia and soffit cleaning while access equipment is already on site.
What it costs
It depends on the area of brickwork, how soiled it is and the access needed, so we don't guess at figures. We'll look at the job and give you a free, no-obligation quote. Get in touch through the contact page to arrange it.
